A lucky Lotto player in Dublin has won themselves €500,000 in a historic EuroMillions draw.

€190m had to be won on Tuesday night, whether a player matched enough numbers or not.

The jackpot, which is capped at €190m, had rolled over five times already and isn't allowed to roll over a sixth.

That means that, if the top prize isn't won, the jackpot trickles down to bump up the value of lower prize tiers.

However, people matching just a couple of numbers didn't end up getting a cash boost on Tuesday.

A lucky ticket holder in the UK scooped the top prize of €190m.

EuroMillions Dublin Winner

However, one player in Dublin did win big.

A ticket sold at Centra beside Marlay Park went on to be worth €500,000.

It won the top EuroMillion Plus prize in Ireland.

With the winner yet to come forward, EuroMillions players in South Dublin are being urged to check their tickets.

The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers for the draw were: 04, 05, 14, 15, 16

Interest in Tuesday night's results was so intense, the Lotto website and app in Ireland crashed for a number of hours.
