Two major American fast food chains are getting ready to shake up Ireland’s dining scene – and let’s just say, it’s good news for fans of bold flavours and guilty pleasures.

Taco Bell and Popeyes are both gearing up for Irish expansion, and things are about to get a lot tastier.

Taco Bell is expected to launch its first Irish outlet this summer. It’s part of a wider growth strategy by Applegreen, who are planning to roll out the Mexican-inspired brand as part of a billion-euro investment. While the exact location hasn’t been confirmed yet, the arrival is set to bring those signature tacos, burritos and cheesy quesadillas to a whole new audience. For anyone who’s only ever tasted Taco Bell on holidays, this is big.

Meanwhile, Popeyes – the fried chicken brand that’s become a cult favourite in the US – is preparing to open its first Dublin restaurant. A planning application has been submitted for a city centre location on Westmoreland Street. Known for its crispy Louisiana-style chicken and viral sandwiches, Popeyes is already proving a hit in Belfast and looks set to take the capital by storm once the doors open.

Together, these two big-name brands are bringing some serious variety to Ireland’s fast food line-up. With Taco Bell’s Tex-Mex flavours and Popeyes’ southern-style spice, Irish foodies are in for a new wave of crave-worthy comfort food. Whether you’re team taco or team chicken, one thing’s for sure – your lunchtime options are about to get a lot more exciting.
