The five Garth Brooks gigs scheduled for Croke Park next year look set to go ahead.

At a residents meeting last night organisers pledged to locals that the high number of concerts planned for next year will be an exception.

It follows the 2014 debacle when the country music superstar cancelled five concerts at GAA HQ after opposition from residents.

A meeting of over 100 residents was told last night that all five gigs do look set to go ahead. In total seven concerts are planned for Croke Park in 2022 after Ed Sheeran announced two gigs for April.

Croke Park bosses have promised the seven concerts scheduled next year are a one off for 2022, and won’t be repeated in future years.

In a statement issued before the meeting last night the Clonliffe and Croke Park Area Residents Association described the meeting as an announcement rather than a consultation.

The group said it objected to the number of concerts planned and that no other stadium in the world had imposed this type of burden on its local community.

It says it will lodge an objection against two of the five Garth Brooks shows.
