Alisha Weir will play Matilda
Last week it was revealed that Netflix has a Matilda musical in the works.
Fans of the movie were delighted to learn that Emma Thompson had signed up to play the detestable Miss Trunchbull.

And now an even more exciting cast announcement has been made - Dublin actor Alisha Weir has bagged the lead role!
In addition to Thompson, the 11-year-old will star alongside Bond actor Lashana Lynch (Miss Honey).

Alisha's drama teacher Johnny Ward took to social media to react to the incredible news!

The movie is currently in pre production with a potential 2022 release date when it will hit cinemas first before landing on Netflix.
We cannot wait to watch Alisha do her thing!
