Dubliners are enjoying an extended period of warm, sunny weather, thanks to a rare meteorological phenomenon known as an 'Omega blocking high.'
This weather pattern, resembling the Greek letter Ω, occurs when a high-pressure system becomes trapped between two low-pressure systems, leading to stable and dry conditions.
Met Éireann reports that this high-pressure system is currently situated just north of Ireland, resulting in clear skies and temperatures reaching up to 25°C in parts of the country. The midlands, west, and southwest are experiencing the warmest conditions, while Dublin and the east coast are slightly cooler due to easterly breezes.

The fine weather is expected to continue through the weekend and into next week, with daytime temperatures ranging between 17°C and 25°C. Nights will remain clear and moderately cool, with temperatures between 4°C and 10°C.
However, forecasters caution that this dry spell may come to an end by late May or early June, as models suggest a shift to wetter-than-average conditions around the 24th or 25th of May.
