Children as young as 10 are being used as drug runners in Dublin.

New research shows the use of drugs is becoming normalised in areas.

The latest Drug and Alcohol Trends Monitoring System for Dublin 15 shows those who are holding and carrying substances are getting younger.

Research from the Blanchardstown Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force shows the typical age of drug runners who are under 18 is 10 years old.

Data shows the number of minors in the area who have been treated for drug use over the past five years has increased by 129 percent.

Some substances are increasing in popularity such as the use of cannabis edibles and nitrous oxide laughing gas.
