Ed Sheeran has quit Twitter after receiving abusive messages from trolls. Speaking to The Sun, the singer said he finds it hard to understand why people don't like him.

“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it.  I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that.

One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it. The head-f*** for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

Ed previously took a one year hiatus from social media ahead of the release of his most recent album '÷'.

Last week, Sheeran announced 7 Irish dates. He'll play two nights at Dublin's Phoenix Park on May 16th and 18th 2018.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 9am from www.ticketmaster.ie and all usual outlets Nationwide.

Ed and his team have a strict stance against anyone using secondary ticketing websites for profit. On this tour, any tickets that are resold will not be valid – this means no profit to touts and no one getting ripped off. On all the stadium dates you will be required to bring your tickets, booking confirmation and credit card, plus a valid form of ID or you will not be granted entry to the show.
