I mean, it’s about time we had an Irish Bond again!
It’s been a hot topic for a while now, who is going to play the next James Bond?
Ever since Daniel Craig stepped down from the iconic role back in 2021 after wrapping up on No Time To Die, audiences have been wildly speculating who will be the next actor to take on the role of 007.
Paul Mescal and Idris Elba have been names that were reportedly in the running, with Bullet Train actor Aaron Taylor Johnson being the leading choice in the betting odds currently.
And while we wait for the official announcement, the latest theory is that our own Cillian Murphy could be in the running.
According to The Sun Cillian Murphy’s performance in Oppenheimer has impressed James Bond bosses enough to want to cast him in the titular role for the next few films.

It was reported that the producers were impressed with the Oppenheimer star’s performance, despite earlier reports that famed Bond producer Barbara Brocolli was looking for a younger actor to take on the role.
No shade to Cillian!
However speaking on the red carpet at the Oscar Wilde party in LA last night, Cillian himself responded to the rumours.
“[I’m] a bit old for that” was all he said he was quizzed on the subject.
It’s possible producers did approach him but he turned it down, however that’s all Cillian had to say on the matter.
