A Dublin council is expected to be compelled to drop a ban on developments in one of the most sought-after suburbs in the country.
The planning regulator says the block on homes in parts of Killiney and Dalkey is an unnecessary restriction on sustainable development.
Councillors from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown say this ban on developments on lands in Dalkey and Killiney isn’t about protecting wealthy land owners - but the heritage of the area and keeping it as a public amenity.
Independent Councillor Hugh Lewis says they wanted to stop mansions and large scale developments.
But the minister of state for local government is expected to tell councillors to go back to the drawing board as it goes against national policy.
It means the council will have to reopen the development plan it adopted last month.
