Four men have been arrested in Dublin in connection with a string of attacks on sex workers.

They were taken in for questioning yesterday, after searches at three properties in the West of the city.

Operation Quest is targeting those behind seven attacks on sex workers across the country since October.

The four men being questioned are aged between 18 and 37.

A fifth man arrested on foot of a bench warrant is appearing before before the Distinct Court today.

It comes as seven attacks have taken place nationwide on sex workers since the middle of October.

On each occasion an online appointment is made, but when the 'client' arrives the sex worker is assaulted and robbed by a number of men.

Gardaí are appealing for people with information on these targeted attacks to contact them.
