A 14-year-old child has died from Covid-19, becoming Ireland's youngest fatality since the pandemic began.

They're among 25 Covid patients who died in the week that ended on Tuesday. Until now, a 17-year-old was the youngest to pass away.

Six people under 25 have lost their lives from the virus since March 2020.

Working from home

Meanwhile the government will make a decision next Tuesday about whether to ask people to work from home where possible.

It's after NPHET issued that advice yesterday and appealed to employers to be supportive.

It comes amid concern at rising Covid case numbers, with over 3,000 reported on nine out of the past 10 days.

3,680 new cases were reported yesterday evening, while 543 patients are in hospital with the virus.

97 are in intensive care, which is 23 higher than five days ago.
