Dublin rents are up almost a third since their lowest point in 2011.

According to Daft.ie, if you're looking to rent a two-bed home in the city, it will cost you €1,649 a month in Dublin 2 or €1696 in Dublin 4 - the highest in the country. On the other side of the city, it will set you back €1,395 a month in Dublin 1 or €1,345 in Dublin 3.

However, you can benefit from the lowest rent for a two-bed if you move to the west of the city, with the average rent €1,032.

If a one bed apartment will do, the cheapest is in Dublin 10 at €900, while the most expensive is again in Dublin 4 at €1,480.

At the higher end of the scale, if you're looking to rent a five-bed house, the cheapest rent is €1,451 in North County Dublin, while the most expensive is €3,114 in Dublin 2.

Daft economist Ronan Lyons says "all of this ultimately comes down to a lack of availability.

"When you look at the number of units available to rent at any one point in time, that's been falling steadily over the last three or four years and we've reached the stage where there's very little choice on the market."

The cheapest average rent in Dublin is in North County Dublin at €1,197, while renting in South County Dublin is €1625 on average.

The average rent throughout the country is €979.
