A controversial US company that teaches men reverse psychology and so-called "pick-up" techniques plans to hold a seminar in Dublin next month.

The National Womens Council of Ireland has called the Real Social Dynamics' training "predatory and abusive" and says it believes the group may face protests.

The council's director Orla O'Connor said it borders on abuse.

"No means no, and training men in terms of how to persist after women, to also use manipulative tactics -- that really is bordering on coercive control," she said.

"This is very important in Ireland now. We now have new legislation as and from the 1st of January that was commenced making coercive control illegal, so I think it's really important that we call this behaviour out."
