A new static speed camera will start operating in Dublin today.
It’s the first in the city council area and will go live on the Crumlin Road in Dolphin’s Bar at midday.
Vehicles detected breaking the 50 kilometre an hour limit face a €160 fine and three penalty points as part of the initiative between gardaí and Dublin city council.
Gardaí say Dolphin’s Barn was identified as part of a wider national analysis as being a road which could benefit from the implementation of a safety camera. The location was selected based on fatal and serious injury collision data from the last seven years and speed data, as well as feedback from stakeholders.
