Culture Night - Friday

Dublin City is ready to open its doors for Culture Night 2016. Over 260 of the city's cultural organisations and venues will be open to the public tonight.

Highlights include The Mansion House, Aras An Uachtarain, Christchurch Crypt and Dublin Castle.

Festival organisers say the event aims to promote the creative sector, artists and organisations. Their wish is to show case this to the Irish and visiting public to celebrate what has been achieved.

Aimee Van Wylick says “It’s an evening of exploration, discovery and rediscovery. You’re seeing things that you might see on a daily basis, but you don’t know the context of – like a historical building or heritage site. Everywhere is opening their doors, and everyone is welcome.”

Dublin Fringe Festival

The 2016 Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival continues this weekend. The 16 day event, which comes to a close on September 25th, is jam packed with theatre, music, comedy and dance. Fringe 2016 is described as the "boldest, wildest and most spectacular yet".

Spiegeltent is back in all its glittery glory this year and is situated in Merrion Square.

Screenings Of The All Ireland Football Final - Sunday

Dubs who didn't get tickets to Croke Park can watch Sunday's All Ireland Final on a big screen in Smithfield.

The city council is putting on an alcohol-free family-friendly day so even the youngest supporters of the Boys in Blue can take part in the excitement. Lord Mayor Brendan Carr says:

“I urge all fans who do not have a ticket for the game to come down to Smithfield and create a miniature Croke Park atmosphere. This free family-friendly event will start at 12:30 p.m and will finish at 6:00 p.m just after (hopefully) Stephen Cluxton will have hoisted the Sam Maguire in the Hogan Stand. Come one, come all, Come on you Boys in Blue.”

There will also be plenty of entertainment in the form of bouncy castles to strolling characters and face painting. Access to Smithfield Plaza will be from New Church Street and North King Street. Fans are also advised to arrive early to get a good vantage point and families should be prepared for all weather conditions. There won't be any seating.

Meanwhile the Odeon cinemas in Blanchardstown, Charlestown, Coolock, Point Village and Stillorgan will devote a theatre each to showing the match live.

Outdoor Screening Of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory - Sunday

In advance of the Smithfield big-screen event (and in a tribute to Gene Wilder), the Light House Cinema will present a free outdoor screening of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory at 1pm.
