The mystery of the proposed fourth Croke Park concert has been revealed.

Aiken Promotions has announced Rolling Stones plan to take to the stage on Thursday the 17th of May.

If given the go-ahead by Dublin City Council, it will be the fourth gig held at the stadium this year and it will be the biggest of the Stones' European tour.

Tickets are due to go on sale on the 23rd of March.

The plans have prompted an angry backlash from some local residents who say three is enough.

Taylor Swift will perform two nights at Croke Park on the 15th and 16th of June, while Michael Bublé and Emili Sandé are set to take to the stage on Saturday the 7th of July.

Croke Park bosses have automatic planning permission to hold three gigs in any given year, and can apply to stage further concerts which will be judged on a case-by-case basis.

The Clonliffe and Croke Park Area Residents Association has called a public meeting on Distillery Road tonight to discuss the issue.
