The latest exhibition in the Axis Community Centre in Ballymun, will be a trip down memory lane for many in the area.
The event, which is named ‘Concrete People' runs until March 31st features 28 photos of locals that were taken over 8 years by journalist Seamus Kelly.
in The exhibition highlights the three major milestones in Ballymun history:
- The 50th anniversary of the first families moving into the Ballymun estate
- Axis’ 15th birthday
- The farewell to the 7 towers of Ballymun.
Speaking about the exhibition, Axis director Mark O’Brien said, “Ballymun Concrete News was so named because Seamus Kelly recognised the unique sense of community and strength of the people here and their support of one another.
He added 'it's something that's remained unchanged today and we have titled this exhibition Concrete People in recognition of that.”
Concrete People is part of Axis’ 2016 ‘Dream out Loud’ programme, celebrating this and mark year with a range of events to highlight and celebrate the importance of creativity, culture and the art in society.
