Did you know that you can have fun at work and save sight? Sightsavers’ Bright for Sight 2018 fundraising event is happening later this month.

In Ireland, cataracts are more often associated with older people than with children. But the truth is they can affect anyone.

For adults living in some of the poorest parts of the world, cataracts can deprive them of their independence and their ability to earn a living and feed their families. And for children, the condition can deny them an education and the chance to become part of their community.

Here's how you can help stop this and make a difference:

How can I get involved?

Just ask your colleagues to wear something yellow to work on 22nd June and ask them make a small donation.

Why yellow?

Yellow is the colour that stands out most to people with visual impairments. So make sure you dig out that yellow t-shirt, those bright yellow socks, or even that classy banana outfit you bought for that fancy dress party three years ago.

How will I be making a difference?

Just €32 can provide a cataract operation for an adult, restoring their sight and their ability to work. And €104 can change a child’s future.

What do I do next?

Email bright@sightsavers.ie to let them know you’re taking part.
