Love Island's Amber Gill has given her first interview since splitting from Greg O'Shea.

The pair won the reality show in July, sharing the £50,000 prize. Last week, rumours emerged the couple had called it quits just five weeks after leaving the villa.

Speaking on Loose Women earlier today, the Newcastle beauty addressed reports that Greg had ended their relationship by text. She also denied it was a mutual decision.

"From my point of view, I kind of still wanted to make it work, and there was a call a few days prior just chatting, not specifically to do with that," she said. "But definitely on that day [the relationship ended], it was like a text.

"We were texting each other... Basically all I wanted was a bit of effort from him to come to London or Newcastle to come and see me, and I just was like, 'Oh, I'm going to have to give up if you don't put the effort in', and then he was like, 'Okay, bye'.

"I think there was a bit of miscommunication, but I think if you don't want to be with someone, you don't want to be with someone."

Amber went on to say that she is disappointed that the relationship is over but she's staying positive.

"I think the careers and the distance was always a factor," she said. "It was always something that we knew about, so I don't know what changed. I kind of wanted to make it work, but it is what it is, really.

"I am disappointed that it's over, but you know, I'm booked and I'm busy and I'll be fine. Onwards and upwards from here."

Greg confirmed the pair had split on RTÉ's Late Late Show on Friday after Amber failed to turn up following the news of their break-up.

The rugby player blamed long-distance and the pair's busy schedules for the split.

"Me and Amber have been chatting the last few days and the whole thing about [breaking up] over text isn't true.

"But we need to be realistic about the situation, and the fact she's in the UK.

"We're both so busy and we need to take these opportunities and protecting our careers", he told Ryan Tubridy.
