“I’m not the type of guy that likes to do something when I’m not 110% up for it”.

Evans who has been a pro for fifteen years is a three time Olympian and Irish Open winner and he has shared the reason behind his decision to retire aged thirty.
“I’ve been training professionally for the last fifteen years and I have lost the desire to train full time on a daily basis.”
“After Rio (2016 Olympics) I took a bit of time off, which I’ve never done at all before. Trying to get back into it after, my desire hasn’t been there.”
“I think it’s the right time now for me to step back.”

Scott’s long decorated career has seen him take part in many tournaments across many different countries and continents. The Dublin man gave what he considered to be the highlights of his career.
“I won the Irish Open in 2012; I was the first Irish person to win in forty years or so.”
“The Olympics for badminton players is by far the biggest tournament you can compete in.”
“These two tournaments will stay with me forever.”
Evan’s has been a professional badminton player since the age of fifteen and now that he has retired he has his eyes firmly set on what he wants to do next.
“The future will still be in badminton for me.”
“The last couple of years I’ve been doing a bit of coaching and really found I enjoy it a lot.”
“I’m going to be a head coach at a former club of mine and setting up an academy for badminton players to come from all over the world to get professional training.”
