Mulder and Scully are returning once again as a new series of The X-Files has been commissioned.

Ten new episodes of the sci-fi show starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be made this summer, according to network Fox.

It follows a successful reboot last year - when the programme became the highest rating drama to be shown on Channel 5 at the time.

The Emmy Award winning show was one of the longest running sci-fi series in TV history, originally airing from 1993 to 2002.
