Now this is something we’d be happy to see back on our screens!

Word on the street is that RTÉ are looking to produce a new comedy show, similar to the Mock The Week format over in the UK.

Pitches for a new programme are now underway, with the winning pitch capturing "the spontaneity and irreverent humour" from a fresh perspective.

A listing posted on RTE.ie reads: "We are looking for a way to break traditional format expectations with a new approach we haven’t seen before.

"An example of this would be Taskmaster, which retains the defined beats of a panel show but with inventive challenges, in an unconventional studio setting."

Not only are they looking for the best of Ireland's comedic talent to take part as contributors, they’re also opening the search for someone to host the show, someone described in the pitch as “a skilled comedic anchor who can interact effectively with guests and drive the format".

Reports are already flying on who’s in the running to host, including household names Deirdre Kane, Brendan O’Connor and Joanne McNally.

It's believed that the show is set to air sometime in autumn 2024.

We haven't seen a show like this on Irish television since The Panel so it's safe to say we're buzzing!
