It’s not long to go until First Dates Ireland hits our screens. Ahead of Valentine’s day tomorrow, RTÉ2 have revealed the maître d' for the Irish version of the hit Channel 4 show. Mateo Saina says he’s “very excited to be playing Cupid.”
Saina, who’s originally from Croatia, worked in restaurants in Italy and Austria before coming to Dublin in 2004. He’s currently maître d' at Dylan McGrath's restaurant Taste.
Mateo says he’ll make sure no one is too nervous when they arrive for their date at the Gibson.
"Everyone that walks into this restaurant deserves a chance to find love, that's what First Dates is all about," he said. "It's a great feeling to see two people making a connection and if I can help make this happen, then that's my job done."
