The sugar tax on fizzy drinks hasn't raised as much revenue as expected.

The Irish Times reports it brought in 16.5 million euro to the state coffers last year, compared to a projected 30 million euro.

Finance Minister Pascal Donohoe says a delay in the introduction of the tax may have contributed to the shortfall.

However, the Minister insisted the tax was aimed at changing behaviour rather than raise revenue.
