Dublin's power showed against James Horan's Mayo as they ran out winners in Castlebar by 1-11 to 8 points, as the Boys in Blue top Division 1 in the National Football League.

Tyrone could overtake the All-Ireland champions tomorrow when they take on Monaghan in Clones. The victory in Castlebar was the first competitive win for Dessie Farrell after taking over from Jim Gavin.

Elsewhere this evening in Division 1, Kerry were run close by Padraic Joyce's Galway running out one-point winners on a scoreline of 1-15 to 2-11. The Kingdom were three points down heading into the final stages of the game before Paul Geaney found the back of the net in Tralee.

Meanwhile, there was one game in hurling's Division 1, where Liam Sheedy's reigning All-Ireland champions Tipperary were attempting to recover from a loss to Limerick in the opening round, against Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. However, the Rebels ran out winners by 2-25 to 1-18.
