Victor Valdes is on his way out of Manchester United.

Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal says he will sell the goalkeeper.

He claims the former Barcelona player refused to turn out for the reserves last season.

And he doesn’t fit in with the “philosophy” of the club, according to van Gaal, who added “there is no place for someone like that”.

“There are aspects you need as a keeper at United. When you are not willing to follow those principles, there is only one way and that is out.”

Valdes signed for United in January, after recovering from a serious knee injury.

He was back up to David de Gea last season, but started only one game- the final Premier League match of the season away to Hull City.

"I played him at Hull because I wanted to help. I am always a very social human being”, said the United manager.

There were rumours that Valdes could replace de Gea as United’s Number One for next season, with de Gea a rumoured target of Real Madrid.

But that now looks very unlikely to happen, with the former Barca stopper, who has a contract at Old Trafford until 2016, now looking for another club.

"It is a big disappointment. It is a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate, gave him a contract and then he is fit to play."
