Shelbourne are the first Dublin club in the Premier Division to start officially admitting supporters for home matches since the season's restart.

The club have told OTB Sports that they will begin by allowing approximately 50 season ticket holders into the Tolka Park for their top-flight clash with Derry City in the SSE Airtricity League this Saturday evening.

The club stress that they will be strictly adhering to all Football Association of Ireland and government restrictions in relation to Covid-19.

Currently the government Covid-19 restrictions allow for a maximum gathering of 200 people outdoors, when conducted in line with public health guidelines.

The club will have Covid officers at Tolka Park to ensure that social distancing rules are respected while only one person at a time will be allowed to use the toilet facilities.

Hand sanatiser will also be provided at the ground.

A Shelbourne spokesperson also said that they took into consideration how supporters would get to the match and believe that a total of 50 people travelling can do so while adhering to government guidelines.

Fellow Premier Division clubs, Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers, have allowed a similar amount of their supporters attend matches at Finn Park and the Showgrounds.

Shelbourne will include season ticket holders in a draw for the 50 tickets and they have also said they will put 50 tickets up for sale for their upcoming Women's National League (WNL) match against Bohemians.

That historic match, which takes place at Tolka Park next Wednesday night, will be the first time that the north Dublin rivals have met in the WNL.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has partially lifted the cessation of all football activity in counties Kildare, Offaly and Laois.

Restrictions have been eased in order to permit the return of non-contact training in those counties, as per Government guidelines.
