Liverpool have had a £5.1m bid for midfielder Marko Grujic accepted by Red Star Belgrade.
He’ll become Jurgen Klopp’s first signing, the 19-year-old is expected to agree a long term deal with the reds.
Red Star's sporting director Zvezdan Terzic confirmed the news today, also revealing the highly rated youngster will wear the iconic number 8 shirt, formerly worn by reds legend Steven Gerrard
“Marko Grujic will sign a five-year contract with Liverpool where he will have a €1.2m annual net income, which means that he will have €6m from Liverpool. He'll get No. 8 on the back.”
The Serbian was a member of his country's underage squad when they lifted the under-20 World Cup last summer.
Liverpool faced stiff competition to secure his signature with Inter Milan, Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly interested in the midfielder.
