Paul O'Donovan to miss European Rowing Championships

Paul O'Donovan is to miss the European Rowing Championships in Lucerne.

The Olympic silver medalist is currently engaged in his studies, and his latest exams run up til early June. The younger O'Donovan is a three-time European medalist with his brother Gary who will go it alone in the lightweight men's single sculls.

In all, Ireland are sending a crew of 10 to Switzerland with the Championships running from May 31st to June 2nd.

World Championship gold medalist Sanita Puspure will go in the women's single sculls.

Skibbereeen provides four members of the squad, with Denise Walsh and Lydia Heaphy competing in the women's lightweight double sculls.

While Fintan and Jake McCarthy will go in the lightweight men's double sculls in the absence of the O'Donovans.
