West Ham Defender Joey O'Brien is on his way home, after failing to recover from a hamstring injury he picked up in the warm up before Friday's game with Latvia.

The Dubliner underwent a scan yesterday, and the Irish medical team decided to send him back to London where he will be assessed by his club doctors.

Andy Reid returned to Nottingham Forrest yesterday, complaining of a similar injury.

However, central defender Sean St Ledger, who was also a doubt, was expected to remain with the party which was scheduled to fly to Poland on Sunday afternoon.
