Manchester United have been given a boost in their bid to sign Antoine Griezmann in the summer.
Atletico Madrid have said they won’t stand in any players’ way, if they want to leave the club.
United have long been linked with a move for Euro 2016 star Griezmann, especially after his French teammate and best friend Paul Pogba moved to Old Trafford last summer.
It is believed United may have to- and would be willing to- pay the €100 million release clause in his Atletico contract to buy him.
Manager Diego Simeone is set to leave the club in the summer.
And he has left the door open for his star player to join him in departing.
“I don’t tie anybody down”, Simeone said.
“I simply work in order to continue getting better for the good of the club.
“He (Griezmann) is in an extraordinary moment.
“He is working well, he has got back on the score sheet.
“He is currently in great form and it’s normal that the top clubs in the world want him.
“I’m not surprised that those that can afford him are seeking him.”
Griezmann signed a new contract last summer, tying him to the Spanish club until 2021.
He starred for France last summer, scoring six goals as the hosts reached the final, where they lost to Portugal.
He was then named Player of the Tournament.
