Man United set to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United are closing in on their second signing of the summer, after agreeing a £50m fee with Crystal Palace for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The England under-21 international defender will move to Old Trafford for an initial £45m with another £5m in add ons. The clubs had been negotiating since Palace rejected a £35m bid earlier this month.

Having returned from the Under-21 European Championship, Wan-Bissaka is set to travel to Manchester for a medical ahead of going on holidays.

He's expected to sign a long-term contract which will see his weekly wages rise from £10,000 a week to £80,000 a week at United.

England under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd admitted that the potential transfer was playing on Wan-Bissaka's mind at the recent European Championships.

"For a young player who all he knows is the Crystal Palace academy and Crystal Palace, it would be daft not to say that in some way he must think about it," Boothroyd said.

"I would not be truthful if I told you anything other than that. What I will say is because he doesn't say too much you don't get to find out too much. Aaron keeps things to himself.

"He is a very private guy. When that speculation is flying around it is bound to turn your head. But having said all of that had he not scored the own goal we probably wouldn't be having this conversation."

Wan-Bissaka played 46 times for Palace in the last two years and was voted their player of the year last season.
