Burnley have agreed a fee that could reach £3 million for Stoke City’s Jonathan Walters.

The 33 year old has made 226 appearances for Stoke, bagging 43 goals since his debut in 2010.

Walters still has a year left on his contract but it is thought that he is keen to link up with Burnley manager Sean Dyche.

If the deal is to be done, there will be five Irish players earning their keep at Turf Moor.

Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick, Stephen Ward and Kevin Long all play their football for the side that finished 16th last season, six points above the relegation places.

Walters has hit the net 10 times for Ireland in 49 appearances, most recently scoring against Austria with this brilliant strike.
