The Irish Women's rugby team have finished fourth at the World Cup in France.

The Hosts took the bronze medal today, winning the third place play off 25-18.

Niamh Briggs converted her own try early on to give Ireland a 7-0 lead. The hosts soon leveled through a try of their own.

Grace Davitt scored Ireland's second try just before half time to give the Girls in Green a 15-12 half time lead.

The Irish led 18-15 going into the closing stages of the game, as Briggs continued her fine form from the kicking tee.

But the French soon retook the lead, and as the Irish went in search of a try, the home side capitalized by crossing the line with the last play of the game.

But it has certainly been a tournament to remember for Ireland.
