Steven Gerrard's hopes of returning to Liverpool on loan later this season appear to be over.
The ex-Reds captain departed Anfield in the summer after 17 years, joining LA Galaxy.
It had been thought a Liverpool return was possible, however, and he could spend the Major League Soccer close season on loan on Merseyside.
Robbie Keane and David Beckham undertook similar loans in Europe while with LA Galaxy.
But the MLS commissioner Don Garber has revealed he's not in favour of such moves:
