Management wise, the 47-year-old was the main man at Ajax and Inter Milan, and also had a spell as assistant manager of the Netherlands.

Speaking earlier today. de Boer states that "Crystal Palace is a club that can still grow further. I've done my homework on the players."

He added: "I have a good feeling about the club - I was very excited."
