Jim Gavin will have to plan for the remainder of the league title defence as well as the All-Ireland title defence without star man Jack McCaffrey.
The Blues boss played down the departure of McCaffrey from the panel but the loss of the 2015 Footballer of the Year and 2013 Young Footballer of the Year leaves a big hole in the Dublin team.
Gavin confirmed on television after the win against Cork tonight that McCaffrey is bound for Africa as part of his medical studies and ruled him out of this year's All-Ireland Championship.
