The draw has been made for the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup, with the tie of the round perhaps set to take place in the west.

Galway United have been rewarded for knocking out Cork City with a home tie against Shamrock Rovers in the last eight.

Rovers trounced a hapless Drogheda 4-0 in the last round. Goals from Gary O'Neil, Aaron Greene, Aaron McEneff and Seán Kavanagh saw Stephen Bradley's team safely through.

The Hoops are hoping to finally break the so-called 'Milltown Curse' - not since leaving their old home in 1987 have they lifted the trophy.

Drogheda had knocked Rovers out of the tournament last season.

Waterford FC will play Vinny Perth's defending champions Dundalk at the RSC after seeing off non-league Glengad.

Dundalk knocked out Derry City in the last round - that game finished 3-2 at the Ryan Mcbride Brandywell Stadium after extra time. Daniel Kelly, Daniel Cleary and Georgie Kelly scored the goals for the visitors.

Sligo Rovers will take on UCD at The Showgrounds. The Students' new manager Maciej Tarnogrodzki had the dream start in charge as they shocked St Patrick's Athletic 3-1 on Saturday.

Harry Kenny left his role as St Pats' manager after that game.

Sligo's 6-2 win over Limerick included four red cards.

Leinster Senior League side Crumlin United are set to play Dublin opposition in Bohemians. Crumlin beat fellow non-league outfit Lucan United 3-1 at the weekend to progress in the tournament.

Goals from Alan McGreal, Jake Donnelly and a Sean Moloney own goal ensured progression for Crumlin.

Keith Long's Bohs needed penalties to beat Longford Town at Dalymount in their second-round fixture.

The quarter-final ties will be played on the weekend of September 6th / 7th / 8th.
