Galway's Damien Comer is set to miss the Connacht Senior Football Championship for the second season in a row.

The 26-year-old is facing six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury he sustained against Mayo in the Allianz League earlier this month.

Galway manager Pádraic Joyce told the Irish Times: "Damien is probably gone for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

"A hamstring injury is usually five or six weeks so it will put him in doubt for the rest of the year."

Comer missed last year's Connacht Championship with an ankle injury and hasn't featured in a provincial match since the 2018 final win over Roscommon.

Galway also lost Johnny Duane through injury in the defeat to Mayo but the Tribesmen were boosted by the return of Shane Walsh against Dublin on Sunday.

However, it's still unclear if Ian Burke will be available for the Connacht semi-final clash with Sligo on November 7th after he went off with an ankle injury against the Dubs at Pearse Stadium.
