The PGA Tour has given the go ahead for supporters to attend next month's Memorial tournament in Ohio.

The event at Muirfield Village between July 16th and 19th will be the first with supporters at the course since the sport's lockdown due to the pandemic.

Tour Golf in America gets back underway with the Charles Schwab Challenge next month but the first five tournaments after the resumption will be played behind closed doors.

“It’s official, thanks to State approval & support from the @PGATOUR, patrons will be permitted to attend the 45th edition of #theMemorial," tournament organisers announced on social media tonight.

“More details coming soon regarding protocols designed to promote the health & safety of all who will be on-site at this year’s Tournament.”

“These sectors have come up with plans that reduce the number of people, provide for sanitation, and in some cases, provide for one-way traffic,” Ohio governor Mike DeWinDeWine said of the decision. “They are elaborate plans that we believe are consistent with protecting the public.”
