Protestors will today call for half of any housing that might be built in Blanchardstown to be affordable and social.

They'll hold a protest at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre at 2 o'clock this afternoon, over plans for 16-storey apartment blocks.

The application, which is being considered by An Bord Pleanála, would see a development of 971 apartments.

Protest organiser Ruth Coppinger claims if it goes ahead, it'll negatively impact local residents.

She said: "We are gonna be standing out in the White Car Park. It's where the current car wash is.

"This car park is going to be turned over to almost 1000 apartments.

"This is going to have huge consequences for residents nearby in terms of traffic and services."
