A worthy winner!
Patrick Dempsey has been named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2023.
Best known for playing Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy, the news was announced while the actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“Never give up on the dream” Patrick joked in response to his new title.
The movie star said he had been "close a few times", having been on the front cover of People magazine the year George Clooney was chosen as Sexiest Man Alive and again with Matt Damon.
"I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, 'This is a joke, right?' I've always been the bridesmaid," he told People magazine.
Patrick, now 57 years old, is happy about receiving the recognition at his age.
“I'm glad it's happening at this point in my life. It's nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive."

He replaces last year’s Sexiest Man Alive, 42-year-old Captain American actor Chris Evans.
Patrick is married to makeup artist and beauty line founder Jillian Fink, with whom he has three children, Talula, 21, and 16-year-old twins Sullivan and Darby.
"They're just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn't be [the sexiest man alive], which is good, they keep me young," he said.
