Dublin Airport welcomed 1.48 million passengers through its doors this Christmas.

The figures, obtained by the Irish Times, were collated between December 16th and January 4th.

It marks a 96 per cent return to normal passengers in 2019, which was the last festive period without Covid restrictions.

Dublin Airport's passenger total was 87 per cent ahead of Christmas 2021.

The figures follows Ryanair’s confirmation that it had a record December.

It flew 11.5 million customers over the course of the month, with Dublin Airport cited as a strong base for the airline.

The DAA, who also run Cork Airport, confirmed it was a strong holiday season for travel.

Passenger numbers at Cork Airport were just 1 per cent off travellers in 2019.
