Writer Anthony Cronin has died at the age of 88.
Born in Enniscorthy in 1928, Mr. Cronin move to Dublin to further his education at UCD.
He went on to publish 14 volumes of poetry, several novels, and acclaimed biographies based on the lives of Flann O'Brien and Samuel Beckett.
Mr.Cronin was also influential in the establishment of artist association Aosdána.
The Arts Council has offered its condolences on his passing.
