Irish couples are being encouraged to consider starting a family in their 20s rather than waiting until later when fertility problems may arise.
A consultant obstetrician at the National Maternity Hospital says women should consider getting pregnant in their 20s to reduce the risk of medical complications.
Professor Fionnuala McAuliffe says her message is aimed at women who are in a stable relationship but are deferring motherhood until later life.
