Westlife have been confirmed as the headline act for Dublin's New Year's Festival.

The boy band will perform in a new Festival Village at North Wall Quay on December 31st with special guests Gavin James and Lyra.

An earlier family-friendly countdown will take place from 4 o'clock that afternoon.

It's the first full-scale New Years Festival to take place in the capital since 2019 after last year's events had to be cancelled last minute because of a spike in Covid cases.

The festival village will include Irish musicians and DJs performing across six stages. There will also be street entertainment and food stalls.

The celebrations will continue on New Year's Day with live music in Temple Bar, along with interactive artwork displays and street performances.

While people will be able to tie their New Years Resolutions to a special Resolution Tree.

Tickets for Westlife at the NYF Dublin Festival Village (priced 34.90 including booking fee) and Midnight Moment Matinee (Early Bird Tickets from 7.90 including booking fee) will go on sale on Thursday 17th of November at 9 am
