A man, accused of the murder of his wife, has been found dead in his prison cell.

42 year old Keith Lee, whose wife’s body was found in a wardrobe in a flat in Dublin, was discovered unresponsive this morning.

The body of 38 year old Joanne Lee was found wrapped in a sleeping bag in a wardrobe at a flat in Ranelagh in February.

Her estranged husband Keith Lee was arrested at the scene after he had jumped or fallen out of a upstairs window when gardai entered the flat.

He was treated in hospital and was then later charged with her murder.

He was brought to court in a wheelchair still suffering from injuries he sustained in the fall and was awaiting trial in Mountjoy prison.

This morning, when prison officers entered his cell, they found him unresponsive and he was later pronounced dead.

No foul play is expected and an investigation is underway.
