The UK's Supreme Court has ruled that Northern Ireland's abortion laws breech women's human rights.

The result of last month's referendum on the 8th Amendment has put pressure on politicians to ensure that the North reviews its own laws.

Unlike Great Britain, the 1967 Abortion Act doesn't extend to Northern Ireland.

Judges are examining whether its unlawful to ban terminations in cases of rape or incest.

They've agreed the laws in the north are incompatible with European human rights law in these cases.

However despite the finding the court has been dismissed on a technicality.

Today's ruling is likely to heap further pressure on British Prime Minister Theresa May to act.

The DUP which is propping up her government is staunchly opposed to abortion.
