Almost two thirds of us expect a pay rise in 2016, but men are more likely to ask for one.
A new survey shows that 27 per cent of men would feel confident asking for a wage increase, compared to 18 per cent of women.
However only 39 per cent of us who expected a pay rise in 2015 actually got one.
And as people evaluate things in the light of a new year, 81 per cent said they'd consider moving jobs in 2016 if the right offer came along.
Salaries are expected to rise by 2% this year, but ISME - which represents some small and medium businesses - says its members can't afford to pay staff more.
