The Transport Minister says no-one will lose their jobs or pensions if bus services are privatised.

Pascal O'Donohue's comments come as unions prepare for a day of action on May 1st in a row over plans to sell off one in ten routes.

SIPTU said they had a number of concerns they wanted addressed and have given the Minister, National Transport Authority and bus companies until April 24th to meet with them.

Many of their issues relate to terms and conditions, pay and pensions.

However, the Transport Minister says he has some guarantees in place for workers at Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann.

Paschal Donohue says there are reassurances on the table especially for those who might move to the new companies.

He added that he’s willing to go back into talks to avoid a strike.

The NBRU are yet to publish full details of what will happen on Friday May 1st, the beginning of the Bank Holiday weekend.

SIPTU will make a decision on what action they’ll take in 10 days time.
